Adobe Reader XI and Acrobat X is not opening on Windows 10

Acrobat X Pro is not opening even it is part of CS6. Creative Suite 6 apps Acrobat Pro crashes instantly. Even you do multiple clicks Acrobat X pro will not open. Nothing happens when we try to open or launch the Acrobat X CS6 suite.  Acrobat X Pro not opening in Windows 10 is mean the cause is that Acrobat is not compatible.

Adobe Acrobat X Pro has stopped working. After clicking the acrobat icon nothing happens. I tried reinstalling, but the same thing happens. I’m on a PC running Windows10. How do I get Acrobat back?

Acrobat X Pro is not compatible with Windows10, it may or may not work. You may refer to Adobe Acrobat system requirements from the Adobe website.

You could try running Acrobat in compatibility mode for Windows7. Right-click on Acrobat X shortcut on desktop> select Properties>under Compatibility tab>check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode. Adobe Acrobat X pro works smoothly in Windows 7 so recommended to choose from the drop-down options, click on Apply, and OK.

As assume that you are not getting any error messages and the application is just not launching?
As its windows system so, Open Task manager> select all the Acrobat processes> End Task
Try launching the app again. If still doesn’t work, then Right Click on the Acrobat icon and run as Administrator. Hope this helps.

Both the reply from Adobe Support to satisfactory and problem solver and final reference is given i.e Adobe help forum.
So as per our analysis and R&D found a few solutions. Which may not work life long, but you will not feel helpless.

How to resolve Adobe Acrobat X Pro Not opening issue?

Solutions 1:  Reactivate the CS6 product

Ensure that you are connected to the Internet before performing the following steps.

  • You can use this solution first to get resolve your problems acrobat.
  • Open CS6 application instead of trying Acrobat you can choose Photoshop or InDesign
  • Go to the help menu of this app > Deactivate the product
  • Follow the onscreen prompts to deactivate the product.
  • Close the application for a while.
  • Open the same InDesign / Photoshop (CS6 Suite product) again.
  • Sign in with your Adobe ID associated id with CS6 suite to re-activate the product.
  • Now is the time to open Launch Acrobat X. Hope Acrobat X is now opened
  • To resolve this issue along, please update the Acrobat product using the following step. In another option, you can do update your CS6 apps using Adobe Application Manager.

Note: If you try to update now CS6 apps using Adobe application manager. It may not work as this manager has been obsoleted. And upgraded with Creative cloud.

Solutions 2: Uninstall Adobe Acrobat X Pro to resolve file not opening issue

In many cases, you can just repair the Adobe acrobat X pro in Windows 10 Pc. But in my case repair Acrobat pro X does not work.  So, I decided to uninstall the Adobe Acrobat X pro as follows:

  1. Go to the Control panel  –> Programs –> Programs and features

Once the un-installation gets complete remove cache files from the following location.

2. Go to C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat and remove all the available files. From this location.

Remove AppData Files

3. Now time to restart the PC.

4. Reinstall the Acrobat X Pro standalone setup or Adobe CS6 Setup.

Do not check all the options from the following screen look for missing software. As in our case, we have recently uninstalled Acrobat X, so we must check Acrobat X Pro.  

Install CS 6 Apps

In the end, you will get the following Installation report. With the message, these applications are ready to use.

5.Before working on Acrobat X pro Check for the latest updates available for Acrobat X pro.

How to update Acrobat Pro X?

Open any file of Acrobat Pro X go help under the menu area select Check for Updates as highlighted in the following screenshot.

Once you click Check for Updates following screen shows the process of Completion Acrobat Pro X application.

How to repair Adobe Acrobat X Pro

This Repair installation is the basic feature of Acrobat X Pro or any other version i.e., Acrobat Reader DC or Acrobat DC. So, you can repair it as the first step to resolve Acrobat-related errors.

Run repair from within Acrobat Reader DC or Acrobat DC: Choose Help > Repair Installation.

Solution 3: Patch for Acrobat for CS6 crash bug fix

A few years back Adobe was giving solutions to fix the issue name of the patch is Acrofix.zip and a direct download link. This was available in the location.

Unfortunately, or purposely adobe removes the link. To push you to go for the subscription model of Adobe Acrobat DC. This is purely business with the cheating mentality of Adobe.

Conclusion:

Now Adobe not giving support to any query that belongs to the older versions i.e., cs6. Even you bought the product as a perpetual license. Adobe will say that CS6 is not designed and tested in Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11. So recommended to Go with the subscription model of Adobe products. You are even not getting any discount for your Adobe perpetual license.
